PI Professional
I am a 1987 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic now known as Northwestern Health Sciences University. After 20 years in private practice, I went to work for Emergency Chiropractic who is the countries largest PI dedicated chiropractic clinic group practice.
For almost the next full 10 years, I only saw individuals involved in a Motor Vehicle Collisions. No other type of patient, just those involved in a car accidents. I became the clinic director of the Tempe office in 2014. I was the primary examiner of all incoming MVA cases at that office for the next 5 years.
With over 5,300 PI cases seen, dozens of hours of testimony in lawsuits and trials were requested largely due to the size of the practice. These experiences have provided me with invaluable and significant incite into the management and processing of PI cases from the point of view of the insurance company representatives.
In 2015, Dynamic Chiropractic magazine published my first article, Diagnose Sprain Injuries in MVA Cases With Dynamic X-Rays (available in the main website). The test demonstrates radiological proof of the sprain and the likelihood of acute traumatic central disc injury. This test has been very valuable in correctly diagnosing the PI patient. This diagnostic information may come into focus due to the new changes in ICD-10 coding beginning 2015.
A passion was ignited to research all manner of material concerning traumatic injury that could be seen frequently in the chiropractic office that treats PI cases. Three more independent research articles were produced. Spinal Cord Injury without Radiographic Abnormality (SCIWORA), Follow-Up X-Ray demonstrating acute traumatic disc herniation and a new test to diagnose severe thoracic and lumbar injuries, the Flexion Distraction Test (FDT). Additional articles were published including Traumatic Central Disc Herniation, Stroke and the Motor-Vehicle Accident: Clinical Safeguards and many more. They are all available on the main section of this site.
The Soft Tissue Rehabilitation Strategy (STRS) was developed to provide treatment that matched the acute stages of soft tissue recovery as reviewed by Croft. Locations of known contraindicated injuries are identified and avoided just in case a lawsuit or trial were to commence. Since 2015, the STRS program has lead to on time symptom relief and protection of thousands of cases. STRS has been the basis of my PI practice success.
PI PRO developed the downloadable program Imaging for MVA Trauma that provides more research into trauma diagnosis. Concussion, Post Concussion Syndrome, Spinal Cord Injury and detection of vertebral body microfracture (VBMF) and much more. Trial and lawsuit testimony taken from my certified transcripts are incorporated at key positions that will have an impact on your own cases.
PI PRO was developed to share this cutting edge research and my field experience with my collogues while in practice. This information was not available to me in school nor have I see it any of our primary MVA publications.
I am so confident that this in-depth research and extensive experience will benefit you, as it has me, in producing better patient diagnosis, on time case outcomes and practice growth and success.
Sincerely,
Dr. Troy A. Freiheit
